WHAT TO DO
With the Blackwood river, the Munda Biddi Trail and the
Timberline trail all running through Nannup there is a smorgasbord
of choices for those looking for a little (or a lot) of exertion.
National and state forests make up 70% of the shire of Nannup so
there is more Australian bush and plantation timber than you can
possibly explore in one visit. There are also some of the most
picturesque roads in the area for road cycling, motorbikes and
just a scenic drive in the car.
- Canoeing: Blackwood
River Canoeing have been hiring canoes and running canoeing
trips for 20 years and are very experienced operators.
To Book, call 08 9756 1209 or go online

- Mountain Biking: A
recommended ride is to head north on the Timberline Trail past
Barrabup Pool to Cambray and then head back along the
Mundi Biddi Track.
This can be done in
4 hours or take the full day and enjoy the scenery a little more
with a swim at the pools and a possible picnic. For the more
adventurous there are a huge amount of dirt tracks in the
surrounding plantations and hills.
- Scenic Drives: The 40km "Blackwood Scenic Drive” follows the
beautiful Blackwood River to Balingup, with several beautiful
places to stop for picnics beside the river. The way to
Bridgetown, Manjimup and Pemberton from Nannup are also
magnificent drives. A great day out is driving the circle
from Nannup to Balingup to Bridgetown, with lots of scenic
places along the way.
- Barrabup Pool & Workers Pool. Located about 10km west
of Nannup on the Mowen Rd. The natural pools are lovely for
swimming and at Barabup there is a gazebo and BBQs’ for picnics.
- Nannup Recreation Ground: golf course, skate park, tennis
courts and the awesome Marinko Tomas kids playground.
- Mini Golf: Nannup Putt
Putt. Open Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 4pm. Located
on Brockman St opposite the Arboretum.
- Horse Riding: While there isn’t
anywhere in Nannup for horse riding tours at the moment
there are two businesses less than an hour away that operate
all year round:
- Lucieville Farm Chalets
– Bridgetown 45 minutes drive. 08 9761 1733
and Jester Flat -
Rosa Brook (Margaret River) 55 minutes drive. (08) 9757 4562.
WHAT TO SEE
- The Old Police Station. The original cell block is open
for viewing at the Caravan Park office. An old boat carved
from a tree trunk is on display in the exercise yard. This was found in
the water at Cambray some years ago and there has been no
history found about it to date.
- Nannup Arboretum. Planted in 1926 and located in Brockman
Street, next to the Caravan Park, on the Blackwood River.
This is a collection of labelled trees with the purpose of
seeing how they grow in this environment.
